I Love Van Morrison, But......
His current show sucks. There. I said it.
The man is a genius. No question about it. But it's time to hang it up and write a book or something. Now, I admit it was great just to see this living legend on stage last night. But his vocals are just about gone, he has the stage personality of a crotchety 60-year-old, and he was evidently so bored or worn out at the end of the show that he didn't even come out for an encore. Thousands of people started up the usual clapping and cheering in anticipation of an encore, but up went the house lights, and the roadies couldn't get on stage fast enough to tear down all the equipment.
When Van's done, he's done.
What the HELL!!?? What happened to Tupelo Honey? Where was Into The Mystic? And It Stoned Me? Domino? Have I Told You Lately?
Oh, well, his last trip to Phoenix was in 1978. With that schedule, he'll be back in 2034, at only the tender age of 89. Maybe he can do more.
