Sail On, Mom O'Malley

Mom O'Malley and The Babes enjoying life at Phins To The West.

Mom O'Malley has sailed into the mystic. Having seen my own mom off on that journey a scant few months ago, I have a good idea of the pain The Babes are feeling about now. I say some things fairly well from time to time, but I can do no better than reproduce what the AZPHC has posted on its site:

All who knew her will tell you they are a better person for the times they shared with her. Due to health problems she was not able to make many club functions, but you knew when she was there by the crowd of her ‘kids’ gathered around and the loud laughter you heard as she told us her stories.

Mom loved giving us lessons in life such as “PARTY ON-LIFE’S SHORT” She embraced the Parrot Head lifestyle and taught us what that means, to live every day to the fullest and remember to share your phun with others. “Mom” we’ll always miss you but know you’re somewhere in the land of Margaritaville leading the conga line; ...

We are not Parrot Heads because we are Jimmy Buffett fans.
We are Parrot Heads because:
* We love the ocean.
* We love our planet.
* We love to have fun.

We are Parrot Heads because:
* We are not afraid to be silly.
* We are not afraid to act foolish.
* We are not afraid of love.

We are Parrot Heads because:
* We like scantily clad members of our favorite sex
* We like playing in the sun with those same members.
* We like singing songs that say all of these things.

We are Parrot Heads because:
* We believe the best things in life cannot be bought.
* We believe sharing the best things make them better.
* We believe in the innate goodness in all of us.

We are Parrot Heads because:
* We know shared joy is increased.
* We know shared pain is lessened.
* We know a good friend has value beyond measure.

It just so happens, that Jimmy Buffett sings about all these things.
So, we are not Parrot Heads because we are Jimmy Buffett fans,
we are Jimmy Buffett fans because we are Parrot Heads!

Mary "Mom" O'Malley March 02, 2006 Rest in Peace
