A Lesson In Historical Humility

John The Dillinger, alongside the Kid brothers, Billy and Sundance,
blast their way out of trouble.

Man O Man, you'd think a guy with a degree in history from the most prestigious university in southeastern New Mexico, the Harvard of the High Plains, the Yale of the Llano Estacado, the Princeton of the Peanut Fields, yes, Eastern New Mexico University, would have known that there was no "The" in "Smokey Bear." As a kid, I loved watching Smokey fool Mr. Ranger and steal the tourists' "pic-a-nic" baskets in Jellystone Park, so I should have known better. My mistake.

At least I got the "Billy Kid" part right. Now that's real history. I especially like the part where Billy Kid and his brother, Sundance Kid, blow up that train with too much dynamite, then run off to Bolivia with Bonnie Parker. Of course, we all know that story ends badly when Bonnie gives him up by wearing a red dress to the movies, so the G-Men could spot him.

Now, if we could just catch that asshole, Osama The Bin Laden.......
