The Best Albums You Never Heard
From Reggae to Rock - it's all here.
"End of the Beginning" is Freebo's first solo effort. Man-oh-man, why did he wait so long? Freebo is a former bassist for Bonnie Raitt, so it goes without saying he is a talented musician. In this wonderful album, he brings in not only Bonnie Raitt on vocals, but a truckload of great musicians, including former John Mayall and Canned Heat guitarist Walter Trout, Paul Barrere from Little Feat, and Sam Clayton, also of Little Feat, as well as a former Coral Reefer. And if you think Little Feat is eclectic, just wait till you hear this mix of jazz, rock, country, and even a little reggae - all joined together with a thread of the Blues. I particularly enjoyed "Yogi," which has an unmistakeable Little Feat sound to it, "How Do I Say Goodbye?" with Bonnie Raitt in vocal harmony, the memorable guitar work on "You're Gonna Miss Me," and the foot-tapping "Sometimes It's For Nothin'". For a little fun, especially you dog people, try out "She's My D.O.G.", which I've heard a few times on Radio Margaritaville. If you like strong horns, you're going to have a great time with "I'll Never Be Ready."
Ah, to hell with it. The whole thing is great. Trip on over to his website and pick one up. While you're there, grab his latest CD entitled "Dog People," a selection of tunes especially for the canine-crazy among us. You Parrotheads are gonna love this guy. The Crime Dog cannot tell a lie.
