Close But No Hebrew
Bo made reference in a comment yesterday about a "Ladybug-ism" that still has us all smiling.
We were watching an episode of Sasha Baron Cohen's Da Ali G Show one night a few weeks ago, and his "Borat" character was having his way with a bunch of cowboy types down in a honky-tonk around Tucson. Borat dons cowboy attire, and is allowed to take the stage with his guitar, where he sings a hilarious song called In My Country There Is Problem. (Click here for a clip). The chorus goes:
Throw the Jew down the well,
So my country can be free.
You must grab him by his horns,
Then we have a big party.
OK, lighten up, PC people. Sasha Baron Cohen is as Jewish as they come.
Anyway, we were watching this and laughing our asses off when we realized Ladybug was in the room and watching intently. Borat is decidedly not good family entertainment, so we were concerned that she saw this and might repeat it, as kids so often do. Sure enough, moments later, in an unguarded moment, we heard her singing away:
Throw your shoes down the well.
I'm thinking it'll be tough to insult anyone with that line.
