Ask The Crime Dog
Well, since Wastnawa asked a very good question, I can only surmise that it's time for another round of Ask The Crime Dog.
Need an answer to a question that bothers you so? Ask The Crime Dog.
Nobody else seems to know? Ask The Crime Dog.
Think it's just stupid? No problem. Ask The Crime Dog. No judgments are rendered here.
So, let's get started. Here's Wastnawa's question for today:
Hey, Crime Dog! Why are the Dallas Cowboys in the NFC East?
Because the powers that be in the NFL don't own a globe. Indianapolis is in the south, Baltimore is in the north, Kansas City and St. Louis are in the west.
Actually, when the Cowboys entered the league in 1960, they were in the old NFL West. Since there were only two other teams west of the Mississippi, the NFL West was occupied by the likes of Green Bay, Chicago, and Baltimore. When the league realigned the following year, what would become known as the traditional NFL East (Later, the NFC East) was born. As far as why Dallas was placed in the East at that time.....not a clue. Baltimore stayed in the NFL West. Must have been a coin toss.
So, now you know that nobody really seems to know. But the rivalries that came about in the East are such that nothing is going to change any time soon. Hey, some colleges have the same problem. Northwestern University is not in the Northwest. Hell, it ain't even in northwestern Illinois.
So.....who's next?
