Sail On, Dax

I just got back from standing up for an old friend who was burying his son. It's the second time in as many years, and neither of them did a damn thing wrong. It just happened.

Hug their necks every time you see them, spend every moment you can with them, because one or the other of you could be gone tomorrow. And don't forget to nag, nag, nag them about being safe, especially in cars. Maybe that one time will plant the seed that takes root, and a good decision gets made, and a life gets saved. Maybe your kid, maybe someone else's.

Sail on, Dax. Twenty-eight years was not enough.
